learning :)

so I've been studying microexpressions and here's what I've found so far :)

Repetition – mind is trying to work through what you’re saying – lie

Shaking head while talking – you don’t believe what you’re saying

Chest swell, hidden smile – pride

Looking down/away – guilt or shame

Looking away while talking – trying to remember – typically not a lie

Not looking away and/or blinking very little – lying. Not taking eyes off subject to ensure lie is working

Pointing finger and looking other way – lying – assertion. Trying to get you to stop pushing it so you won’t know they are lying

Pushed in/down eyebrows – anger

Wide eyes – shock/surprise

Wide eyes with eyebrows tense – pain, sorrow

Pulling mouth open and down – pain

Biting lip – anxiety

Touching ear or back of neck – lying

Touching top of head as if trying to cover – shame

Pulling lips in – trying not to give yourself away

Voice more high pitched – trying to contain emotion

Using middle finger to scratch – contained hostility; hidden contempt

Smiling with eyes widened – fear smile

Smiling with mouth tightly closed and pushed out – anger

Smiling with eyebrows down – contempt

Not making eye contact at all – fear of being seen through

Hidden snarl – contempt

Clenched fist – anger

Shoulder shrug while talking – lying

Pursed frown – anger

Swallow – intense, hidden emotion

If surprised for more than a second – lying

Eyebrows down, lip raised – scorn

Rigid repetition – lying

Raising chin box – embarrassment

Nose itches when hiding something

Suddenly looking away when confronted – hiding

Liars rehearse their lies from start to finish, not backwards

Fake smiles have no eye wrinkling

A flattened “stop”-like gesture is the same even when your hand is by your side

Skin temperature decreases from fear (blood rushes to the legs to prepare your body to run – flight response)

Eyebrows rise when you ask a question – you know the answer
